Preface

This text was written for students at Plymouth State University enrolled in MGM 3190: Business Operations Analytics with the intention of providing students an alternative to commercial textbooks while ensuring the content is relevant to their work in the course. It was developed to provide a course-specific resource that connects operations concepts with applied analytics using Excel, Power BI, and R.

Although designed with MGM 3190 in mind, the material extends beyond a single class or institution. The emphasis on applied learning, case studies, and tool integration makes it a resource that can be adapted for other courses in operations and analytics.

I would like to thank Evan J. Christensen for his contributions to several of the graphics that illustrate and clarify the concepts presented in this text. I am also grateful to Plymouth State University and the New England Board of Higher Education for their support in the development of this OER.

This resource is designed to grow over time. Students in MGM 3190 will have opportunities to shape it by contributing new cases, examples, or refinements for future students.
